Denied Life Insurance Claim Due to a Prescription Medication Overdose

Our clients called us to discuss their denied accidental death claim following the untimely death of their father, who died in his home when he fell and hit his head on the hard floor in the bathroom.

The insurance company denied the claim by alleging that the prescription medications exclusion applied, stating that the insured died from an overdose of his prescription medications and not as a result of the fatal fall.

We filed a timely appeal with the insurance company and disputed the assertion that the insured’s prescription medications caused his death. The insurance company reversed its denial on appeal and promptly paid the $320,000 claim with interest. Our clients were very pleased with the fast outcome in their favor.
